Top Ten Movie Antagonists

February 24th, 2008 by chewy

My choices were based on..

  • How delighted I was when the Antagonist met demise and/or got the ass beat.
  • How many nightmares I had after watching the movie.
  • How bad of an ass beating could I imagine receiving from the Villain.
  1. Bill the Butcher, Played by Daniel Day Lewis in “Gangs of New York”.
  2. John Doe, played by Kevin Spacey in “Se7en”.
  3. Queen Xenomorph, Portrayed by various puppeteers in “Aliens”.
  4. Xenomorph, Portrayed by Bolaji Badejo in “Alien”.
  5. Darth Vader, Played by David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones in “Starwars” original trilogy.
  6. The Yautja, portrayed by Kevin Peter Hall in “Predator”.
  7. Pinhead, portrayed by Doug Bradley in “Hellraiser”.
  8. T-1000, portrayed by Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2 (T2): Judgement Day”.

Dude, this is a great list of villians. Its got me thinking. I may need to post my top 10 villians. I know quite a few of these will make my list.

I like that the amount of nightmares contribute to the awesomeness of the villain. My top 3 (in no particular order) are

The Shark from Jaws. When I was young I used to be afraid to swim in pools at night. I logically knew that a great white could not live in a swimming pool, yet I did think it could be possible for someone to sneak one in the pool just before I got there.

The Predator: I have had countless battles with the Predator in my dreams over the years. They always end with him gutting me with his arm blade.

Freddy Krueger: Kind of silly to think about this as being scary now. But it freaked me out when I first saw it. I was afraid to have my mind wonder at any moment. I was also convinced that his remains were in the basement of the Wawa up the street.

Steams, I always wondered why you were so terrified of that stupid Wawa. I remember when you lived in marchwood apartments, once hazy evening, you refused to go with us on a 2 or 3 am food run. You rambled on about how that Wawa scared you. I thought you were just being lazy. No everything is so clear.

Anton Chigurh from “No Country For Old Men” might deserve a look.
